Fernando is a full Professor at Pharmacology Department of Ribeirão Preto Medical School (University of São Paulo, FMRP - USP) and the Head of the Center of Research in Inflammatory Diseases (CRID - https://crid.fmrp.usp.br/). He has experience in Immunopharmacology, focusing on inflammatory diseases, working primarily in sepsis, rheumatoid arthritis, tisular lesion mechanisms, leukocytes migration, innate immune response. He is a member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) and The Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo (Aciesp). He is also a member of Brazilian Society for Immunology (SBI), Brazilian Society of Pharmacology (SBFTE) and Brazilian Society of Inflammation. Ad hoc consultant to the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), of The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and of CAPES Foundation. Fernando has published more than 600 papers in international journals, which received more than 30,000 citations, ensuring an h-index of 111 (Scopus).
