Our mucosal body surfaces inhabit a myriad of microbes, our microbiota. Antibodies are important to control our microbiota and to protect from pathogens. The Mucosal Immunology group studies the B cell response to microbiota and infection at mucosal surfaces. We use human samples and gnotobiotic mouse models paired with single cell B cell receptor repertoire analysis and monoclonal antibody testing to functionally define how the humoral immune system contributes to a mutualistic host-microbe relationship.
